at 35 to 50 mph. Rainfall near 2 inches. Winds could occasionally gust
over 60 mph.
OMG.. driving to work was soo scary today!! This is the first time I've driven in such a huge storm. Slippery roads, huge puddles, winds gusting like crazy! I hope everyone's drive was okay.. be careful out there!! Although tonight is supposed to get better. Ahh.. I shouldn't have gotten out of my warm, cozy bed this morning.
Oh, and Happy New Year!

| Yes, that's my arm!! Freaky huh!? I got a bacterial infection that infected the lymphatic vessel along my arm. I was stupid and at first just thought it was a really bad spider bite that got me bad this time because I've always had bad reactions to spider bites, just not this bad. The scary thing is that it crept up on me out of nowhere! I remember Friday night I was scratching my wrist because it was itchy, and then when i got back about 2 hours later, I look at my arm and there is a bright red streak down my arm!! At first I was amused because I've never seen such a thing before, and then I figured I should have it looked at by a doctor just in case, so I went a day with a giant red streak on my arm and then went to the ER the next day. Which, btw, was incredibly stupid. I found out it was an infection and that I needed to take antibiotics right away, so I was okay thats fine I'm sure this is common. It wasnt until my follow-up 2 days later, the doctor told me that I had 'lymphangitis' and that I was very lucky. I didnt really know what he meant by that until I finally looked it up and realized.. shit, I am sooo damn lucky. Here is a description. I got reeeally scared to the point I even started trembling.. scared that this infection could have been so much worse, scared that it had spread so quickly and painlessly, and scared that I did not handle the situation the way I should have. I've showed a some people my arm, and none of them have seen or heard anything like this except for one of my officemates. He's actually heard of red streaks because his mom used to get really worried over them if he fell and scraped himself, allowing an infection to occur. He associated the red streak with blood poisoning, where it can spread to your blood stream and ultimately be fatal, but blood poisoning is a misnomer because it doesnt occur in the bloodstream (although there is still the possibility if not treated in time!!). This bacteria basically attacks your lymphatic system, which is essentially your immune system, and will spread like wildfire down your arm/leg towards the center of your body, so fast that your immune system will not have enough time to respond. Fucking scary shit But, I'm on antibiotics right now, and now I'm healing fine so no worries! Hopefully from this post, people will be aware of it and if it happens or you see it on someone, you'll know to go to the ER immediately (dont pull a Winnie and wait a day) and put down 'red streak' when signing in instead of something like 'giant bug bite'. The weird thing is that my body did not respond to the infection the way it should have. The lymph node by my armpit did not get sore, nor did I get a fever. These are both symptoms that an infection/foreign particle is occurring in your body, and my immune system didnt even recognize it. This makes me think 1) my immune system is really weak and 2) I have no lymph nodes. Can anyone explain this?! I'm really curious. | | |

| Havent updated in a while.. but I'm still in Berkeley and have been working in Berkeley since January. But I think it is time for me to move on finally . Going to be moving again, going to start looking for a new job (hopefully BARTable), grad school? maybe fall 08? We'll see.
Anyways, the other day I saw this really awesome bunny. I wanted to take a picture of it but I figured it would be creepy of me. But the bunny was awesome because it was a BIG bunny, not too fat, really fluffy, had a really pretty fur pattern to it, and it was on a leash! Big bunnies only look fat because when they're in their natural position, their body and fur is all bunched up, but when they stretch out you'll see their body can stretch out really far and they're really not that fat. Generally, I think big bunnies are much more sociable and less afraid of people because of their size as opposed to dwarf bunnies who tend to be more neurotic (except Bard!). Seeing a big bunny made me want to have a bunny again, brought me back to the time when I was actually considering adopting or fostering one but never did. I think when I'm done moving and job searching, I'm going to adopt a BIG bunny. I know.. big bunnies = big poop. But really its not that bad, the poop itself doesnt stink. If you stick your nose to a bunny, you'll find that it doesnt smell, honestly I think dogs smell more than bunnies. Its the hay you feed and its urine that smell, otherwise bunnies dont smell. They're also very neat, you can train them to poop and pee in one area.
I finished reading Harry Potter the other day finally! Dont worry, no spoilers here! It was pretty good. I had high expectations, and it met them. I recommend reading the entire book, and not just reading the last 100 pages and then asking other people what happened before. Some confusing things was that she didn't review much. A lot of the characters i had forgotten, whether they were good or bad, or if they were thought to be good but turned out bad, etc. This makes up for the last two books, which I thought were pretty weak. My favorite books are the third and fourth ones I'd read them again but I read slow. | | |
